Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or increase a little upon it, and recite the Qur’an slowly in stages. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
