The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
