The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
