By the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
