Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 From the guilty. 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
