Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
