۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
