Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
