The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
