The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
