The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 you pay attention 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
