He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and covered by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
