When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
