The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
