The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The piercing star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Indeed the Qur'an is a decisive Word. 13 it is no merriment. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
