Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
