The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 Yet he attempteth not the steep, 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or feeding on a day of severe hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
