The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
