The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
