The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
