In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
