In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
