Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab perish! May he too perish! 1 His wealth and his children (etc.) will not benefit him! 2 He shall soon enter a Blazing Fire, 3 along with his wife, that carrier of slanderous tales; 4 A rope made from palm fibre around her neck! 5

God the Almighty always says the truth.
