A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 [O men!] Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and follow no masters other than Him. Little are you admonished. 3 How many a city We have destroyed! Our might came upon it at night, or while they took their ease in the noontide, 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers. 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
