We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
