The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? 10
