And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
