The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta. Sin. These are the verses of the Quran and of the illustrious Book 1 A guidance and glad tidings unto the believers. 2 who establish their prayers, and pay the obligatory charity, and are certain of the Everlasting Life. 3 Those who do not believe in the Hereafter – We have made their deeds seem good to them, so they are astray. 4 They are those for whom there will be an evil torment (in this world). And in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers. 5 And indeed, [O Muhammad], you receive the Qur'an from one Wise and Knowing. 6 Lo! [While lost in the desert,] Moses said to his family: "Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]; I may bring you from there some tiding [as to which way we are to pursue,] or bring you [at least] a burning brand so that you might warm yourselves." 7 But when he reached it, a voice called out: "Blessed is He who is in the fire and all around it. Praised be God, the Lord of all the worlds. 8 "O Musa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 9 Throw down your staff." When Moses saw his staff on the ground moving like a living creature, he stepped back and did not come forward again. The Lord said,"Moses, do not be afraid. Messengers do not become afraid in My presence". 10 Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful. 11 Put your hand into your pocket. It will come out sheer white but unharmed. This is one of the nine miracles which shall be showing to the Pharaoh and his people; they are truly wicked men." 12 But when Our light-giving messages came unto them, they said, "This is clearly [but] spellbinding deception!" 13 And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers! 14
