And when he attained his full strength and became firm, We vouchsafed unto him wisdom and knowledge; and thus We reward the well-doers. 14 And he entered the city at a time of unawareness of its people, and he found there two men fighting, - one of his party (his religion - from the Children of Israel), and the other of his foes. The man of his (own) party asked him for help against his foe, so Musa (Moses) struck him with his fist and killed him. He said: "This is of Shaitan's (Satan) doing, verily, he is a plain misleading enemy." 15 [And] he prayed: O my Sustainer! Verily, I have sinned against myself! Grant me, then, Thy forgiveness!" And He forgave him - for, verily, He alone is truly forgiving, a dispenser of grace. 16 He said: My Lord! Forasmuch as Thou hast favoured me, I will nevermore be a supporter of the guilty. 17 And next morning he found himself in the city, looking fearfully about him, when lo! the one who had sought his help the day before [once again] cried out to him [for help whereupon] Moses said unto him: "Behold, thou art indeed, most clearly, deeply in the wrong! 18 When Moses was about to attack their enemy, he said, "Moses, do you want to kill me as you slew a soul the other day? Do you want to become a tyrant in the land, not a reformer?" 19 And a man came running from the remotest part of the city. He said: O Musa! surely the chiefs are consulting together to slay you, therefore depart (at once); surely I am of those who wish well to you. 20 So he left the city, fearful and hesitant, (and) prayed: "O Lord, deliver me from these wicked people." 21
