۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On couches facing one another; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
