No! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 in Gardens they will question 40 From the guilty. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
