Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
