Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
