Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Clear Book, 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 that you may be seated on their backs and then remember your Lord's blessing when you are seated on them, and say, 'Glory be to Him, who has subjected this to us, and we ourselves were not equal to it; 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
