Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
