The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
