The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
