The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
