The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
