The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
