The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
