The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
