The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
