The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
