The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
