The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
