Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim! 1 This is the revelations from the Beneficent, Merciful God. 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 who do not pay charity and disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
