Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by yonder city 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
