The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
