Al-Takaathur
Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)
8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you 1 Until you come to the graves. 2 Nay, but ye will come to know! 3 Nay! Nay! you shall soon know. 4 Nay, would that you knew with certainty of knowledge (what your attitude will lead to, you would never have acted the way you do). 5 Surely ye shall behold the Scorch. 6 Again, you shall surely see it with the eye of certainty 7 Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!). 8
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
