The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
